Well, this is my last post! :'( I have grown so much with my topic and research. This project has also helped be better myself as a person. This project has gave me a big reality check though. Whenever you have an idea or plan about something you are really passionate about, you think of all these crazy ideas and things you can do to make your project the best it can be. But then reality sinks in and you have to deal with what you are give. For me personally, my project turned out just how I wanted it (with the normal bumps in the road of course!), but when it came to the research, my ideas had to be shifted a little. For example, when I interviewed my expert, she gave me a big reality check on the questions I was asking and how I wanted to achieve my goal. Although, I am very proud and pleased about how my project and video turned out. Some parts of putting the video together were hard but in the end, I had a very strong project and I got my point across in a fun way. I guess that's it for now... Here is my final project

This project will show how people truly feel about what women wear in the athletic world. By gathering data from surveys, interviews and articles from databases, I have learned what truly goes into making sports apparel, how designers really feel about selling what they made, and the opinions of ordinary people about big brand companies. Me being a female athlete I would like to see what thought process is used to make athletic clothes and what can be done to achieve to problem that not many body shapes are accounted for when producing clothing. With all the new information I have collected I plan to make either a video educating people about my topic or a website that educates people about women’s sports fashion design. One thing I did was conduct survey to collect data and anonymously get the general opinions of some topics in the sports fashion design world from people. I would say the survey went well, over 70 people took it so I obtained good numbers and multiple responses. I got personal and descriptive responses as well. The fact that the survey was anonymous helped this point. Annotated Bibliography

The general question I want to get across is how is sports fashion design affecting the criticism women get in the athletic world. To gather information for my topic, I would like conduct a survey for athletes in Ossining High School and then eventually have it spread to other athletes around the area for both boy and girl athletes to see what their opinions on my topic. I have found a blog that is about women's fashion today and I would like to reach out to the writer so I can ask them some questions on their opinions on todays style trends in the sports world. I have also found a student in their senior year of college who is perusing a career in sports fashion design and I would like to ask them about the process and ideas they have to go through to produce clothes. When I gather all of this information I plan to make a video/film to show to everyone about my topic and hope to have it spread around so people can see my point and hopefully get the message across. The topic I chose for my research project is women’s fashion design in a sports perspective. My basic research question is: How is sports fashion design affecting the criticism women get in the athletic world? This needs to change because many women are playing in sports with clothes that don’t even fit them correctly but then, they get criticized in media about how their clothes are inappropriate and don’t cover up in correct places. Every women is a different body size and some people need to come to realize that so that all clothes can fit everyone's needs. When I researched my topic, I found articles pertaining to this problem. One article titled “ADVERTISING & MARKETING; Taking Their Game to Court of Appeal; Tennis Is Using Glamour, Fashion and Personality to Promote Its Female Stars in an Attempt to Revive the Sport's Popularity” by Kurt Streeter explains what some tennis female athletes go through within the media. I plan to find articles in databases and online. I haven't yet found an expert because no one has gotten back to me but I will follow up on that. To achieve my goal I want to go to some stores and look in detail at their clothing and see how sizes range in comfortably and price. I will also interview a bunch of women athletes from the area and even try to contact some people online who are athletes and see their opinions on athletic clothing.

Based on my articles I have learned that some fashion designers do whatever they want when it comes to women's fashion in sports. They want to make sure that everything fits and women don’t have to settle for men’s clothes or how men's clothes look on women. What the author wants to get across is that they want to create a product that crosses over from the golf course to a woman's regular life. There are really no rules anymore as far as what you have to wear and don't wear. Sports and fashion kind of mix now. According to the article, fashion designers want to get their point across that women want to set the standard when it comes to clothes. Another article I found the author wants to prove and show how women's sports clothes is very risky and gets highly criticized. The author claims that women have been sexualized for what they wear when it comes to sports and people are trying to change that. They cite magazines and ask women for their opinions on this. I really like how these articles relate to my topic and help me out a lot.

I would like to research the how sports fashion design is affecting the criticism women get in the athletic world. I feel that some major female athletes get a ton of backlash on their clothes without the contributing factor of their ethnicity, body size, and success in the sport. This topic is important to me because, me being a black female athlete, not everything fits me when I want to go shopping for new clothes to work out in. This needs to change because many women are playing in sports with clothes that don’t even fit them correctly but then, they get criticized in media about how their clothes are inappropriate and don’t cover up in correct places. Every women is a different body size and some people need to come to realize that so that all clothes can fit everyone's needs.
If a genie popped out of a lamp granting me it’s last wish, I would mostly likely want to ask for three more wishes but, this task doesn’t call for that. This is a list I thought of at first:
- To get 1 million dolllars
- Have a basket full of puppies and Reese's peanut butter cups
- Be married to Zac Efron
I then started to think less selfish lol
- To end World hunger
- To have third world countries get the necessities to become first world countries
- The overall topic of discrimination
